the Boys of Baraka
I just finished watching The Boys of Baraka. This movie touched me deeply even though I suspect I missed a lot because of the visual aspects of the movie. This documentary follows a group of African American boys from the inner city of Baltimore and travels with them as they go to the Baraka School in Kenya. It follows them for a year, showing the emotions they have to deal with, and at the same time blending in events from home. It then follows the boys back to Baltimore to see if they can make the transition.
my thoughts, may be spoilerishCollapse )
All in all, this was an amazing movie.
four out of five stars.

I just finished watching HP POA
I have seen this movie tons of times, but every time I see it, it gets better and better. We get to see Lupin and Sirius, and their performance together is just awesome. It's so cool to see the kids interacting with each other and the adults as well. This movie gets better and better as I see it. I can't wait to see the fifth movie, which comes out on July 13. I have to see the fourth movie again, as I have only seen it once in the theatres, and I think I missed the nuances of the movie.
I have a feeling I will be posting a lot more in the next few days now that I have a working DVD player.

Walk the Line
This movie was as good as all the hype. I was worried it wouldn't live up to all the Oscar buzz as a lot of movies do, but this is one of the rare ones. The acting was exceptional and the songs were amazing. The love between June and Johnny is shown quite well considering they had to squeeze a love that  first started in 1955 and lasted until Johnny died 4 months after June died in 2003 into a 2 hour movie.

Wedding Crashers
Just watched Wedding Crashers. It has some really funny parts, some slow parts, but over all I enjoyed it. Vince Vaugh has some long dialouge where he has to convince someone to do something and he is very good at it. What is funny is Owen Wilson plays the sensitive one in this movie. A bit of a stretch for him.
